What’s the procedure?
Do you receive clients at home? You arrange your clients yourself This is the procedure:
- You post an ad on an ad website. Include your work name, your prices, what kinds of sex you do and do not have and how clients can contact you. Read about how to find clients
- Clients respond to the ad
- You choose who you want to make an appointment with
- You agree with your client when they come to you, exactly what you will be doing and how much the client pays for that
- You give the client the name of a street near you. The client phones you when they arrive there. Then you give your address. The client comes to you
- You ask the client to pay when the appointment starts. You put the money in a safe place
- Set an alarm on your phone to let you know when the appointment is over. That way, you won’t have to keep checking the time
- Does the client want to stay longer? Agree on the amount the client pays for that
- Does the client want additional services? In that case, the client will pay extra for that. Additional services include everything that you didn’t agree about in advance
Receiving clients at home is especially suitable if you don’t receive clients often, two or three times a week for example. Do you receive clients more often than that? People will start to notice that. The neighbors may complain to your landlord.

- You have to be registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) as a self-employed person (ZZp’er)
- You have a residency permit if you are not from the Netherlands
- You are 18 or older. Please note: In some municipalities, you have to be at least 21
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages of receiving clients at home
- You don’t have to rent a place to work
- You don’t have to travel and you don’t have any travel expenses.
- You yourself determine how you present yourself in your ads
- You decide what clothes you wear during an appointment
- You determine your own working hours
- You can build up a regular group of clients
Disadvantages of receiving clients at home
- You are letting a stranger into your own home
- The neighbors may complain
- If you rent your home, the landlord may cause problems
- You usually work alone
Safety
Working safely
Receiving clients at home is risky because you are letting strangers into your home and you work alone.
Protect your safety:
- Trust your own instincts. Do not let clients in who give you a bad feeling
- Is your client acting strange? Maybe you should stop. Read here about what strange behavior is
- Be clear about what you want to do with clients and what you do not want to do. If you don’t want to do something, say no
- Make sure someone is in the house during the appointment. They can help you if necessary
- Never give your full address straight away. Have the client first come to a suitable place in the neighborhood. When your client can identify that location, tell them how to get to your address
